The Mastiffs have had a pretty solid pre-season and have lost just one of their five friendlies, picking up three wins in the process. They began the summer with three straight victories, defeating Dunkerque, Cercle Brugge and Le Havre. However, they have failed to win any of their previous two, losing against Empoli and drawing 0-0 with Brentford. Head-to-HeadNice have won the last two meetings against Lille and picked up a 1-0 win in this fixture last season back in January, courtesy of a Gaetan Laborde goal.

They also won the reverse fixture last term, recording a 2-1 triumph in Lille. Lille’s last victory over Nice came at the end of the 2021/22 campaign in a 3-1 away win. Team NewsNice midfielder Youssouf Ndayishimiye has returned to the side over pre-season after recovering from a knee injury so should be available for selection. Fellow midfielder Hicham Boudaoui has been absent for the past few games and is in doubt to feature due to injury.

He has been training partially with the team and there is a good chance he is able to play. Alexis Claude-Maurice is out, however. He will be aiming to return ahead of the Lorient fixture next weekend. Antoine Mendy is also out after undergoing knee surgery in June. The visitors will be without Edon Zhegrova and new arrival Tiago Djalo for this one. They are dealing with respective muscle and ACL injuries. The Mastiffs have been bolstered by the arrivals of Samuel Umtiti and Hákon Arnar Haraldsson over the summer. They have also recently completed the signings of midfielder Ignacio Miramon from Gimnasia and winger Ivan Cavaleiro from Fulham. Key PlayersNew signing Jérémie Boga from Atalanta will be hoping to hit the ground running after his move over the summer.
